Premier SOR Mahumapelo Year End Message...

As 2016 draws to a close and Christmas almost upon us, I wish to, on behalf of the Provincial Government, offer my warmest season’s greetings to all residents of the people’s Province of Bokone Bophirima. As a lot of joy and excitement surrounds this period, I call on all of us to take the necessary pause and reflect on the past year...and what a remarkable year 2015 was.

This year was characterised by the intensive action-oriented and people driven programmes that are aimed at bettering the lives of our people. The Fifth Administration’s approach to doing this has been anchored by the five (5) concretes namely, growing the Province’s economy through Agriculture, Culture and Tourism (ACT), a radical socio-economic transformation with special focus on Villages, Townships and Small Dorpies (VTSD), fast-tracking service delivery in a well-coordinated, integrated and distinguished  approach known as Setsokotsane, bringing communities together to deal with wounds of the past,  conflicts, violence and other anti-social behaviours through an all-inclusive Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal Programme, and to encourage the public to understand that all these can be attained if we work together, hence the Saamtrek-Saamwerk philosophy. All these find expression in the vision to Rebrand, Reposition and Renew (RRR) our Province, and the pursuit to realise the goals of the National Development Plan (NDP) Vision 2030.

Among the momentous and memorable occasions the Fifth Administration successfully delivered in 2015, were the hosting of Bokone Bophirima Maize Triangle Challenge, rolling out the Mahikeng Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal Plan which seeks to give the Province’s capital city a facelift, activating programmes aimed at branding and positioning Bokone Bophirima as a tourist destination of choice, staging the first of its kind Provincial Agricultural Show, and hosting the much-talked about inaugural Mahika-Mahikeng Music and Cultural Festival amongst others.

As we look forward to the New Year with excitement and eagerness, we remain confident that all the efforts and initiatives by the Provincial Government will continue to enjoy the invaluable support from the people of this Province and the country at large. We also acknowledge the fact that while challenges may be experienced during implementation of these 5 concretes, those challenges are necessary platforms for success.

I wish to earnestly acknowledge the priceless contributions made by all in making Bokone Bophirima a better Province, and wish to thank all Public Servants, government stakeholders and the general citizenry of this Province, for their concerted and undoubted efforts to move Bokone Bophirima forward.

With Christmas being a season for all of us to be with our loved ones, I encourage you to also embrace the spirit of this period by sharing generously  with those in need. As Africans, this is the spirit that connects us.

Let the spirit of reconciliation, peace, joy and love continue to prevail in our society, as this will help in building a future where all shall love one another and live together in peace and harmony.

As many of us will be travelling to different holiday destinations, I encourage road users to be true ambassadors of road safety messages, this by always obeying the traffic rules. Buckle up and NEVER drink and drive.

I wish you all, your families, friends and relatives a joyous festive season, a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.

Together we move Bokone Bophirima Province forward!
