MEC Miga’s private residence gutted by fire

Mahikeng: The North West Premier has reacted with shock to the news that the private residence of the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Lenah Miga in Makhubung, Mahikeng caught fire last night. Premier Maape is however, pleased that despite this unfortunate incident, no life was lost and there were no injuries sustained by any of the occupants when the house caught fire.
The Mahikeng fire services was alerted to the incident around 20h18 last night and they immediately responded by deploying a fire engine to the scene. The team managed to contain the fire although some parts of the house were completely destroyed while the main structure also had some fire damage.
Although the house was occupied at the time, no one was hurt during the incident. According to Mr. Michael Matlawe, Station Commander at the Mahikeng fire station, people who were in the house at the time said that the fire started in the part of the house where their bedrooms are situated.
The family noticed a huge flame while they were watching television in the lounge but fortunately were able to exit the building in time without suffering any injuries.
