Mme Rita Alice Ndzanga to be accorded a Special Provincial Official Funeral

Mahikeng – The funeral of the struggle veteran and a trade unionist Mme Rita Alice Ndzanga, which will be held this Saturday, 27 August 2022 at Mogopa village near Ventersdorp in the North West Province, has been declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2 by President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa.
Mme Rita Alice Ndzanga passed away last week Wednesday, 17 August 2022 at the age of 88. She was the wife to the late struggle stalwart Lawrence Ndzanga who died in prison in 1977 after being incarcerated for political activities. In 2004 Ms Ndzanga was the recipient of the National Order of Luthuli for her contribution in the country’s struggle for liberation. This includes her immense contribution in advocating for workers’ rights during a period marred with exploitation, abuse and racial oppression of the Black working class.
North West Premier, Kaobitsa Bushy Maape, Premier of Gauteng, David Makhura and other dignitaries will pay their last respect to Ms Ndzanga in the aforementioned details.
A Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2 is accorded to distinguished persons specifically designated by the President of South Africa on request by the Premier of a province.
As a sign of respect, the President has instructed that all National Flags be flown at half-mast in the North West on the day of the funeral of Mme Rita Alice Ndzanga.

The funeral service will start at 07h00 at the Kwa Ga-Mogopa Community Hall. The service will also be streamed live on the North West Office of the Premier and North West Provincial Government Facebook pages.
