Mahikeng: The North West Provincial Government under the stewardship of Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi will host the Aziz Pahad Memorial Lecture at the Mahikeng Campus of the North West University as part of the pre-SOPA activities.
The Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Former President Thabo Mbeki under the theme: “The insurgent diplomat: Lessons from the life and legacy of Aziz Pahad”.
President Mbeki is expected to reflect on the role played by Mr. Pahad in promoting the country’s foreign policy in the early years of democracy and shaping the post-apartheid South African government’s approach to international relations.
The lecture is organised by the Office of the Premier, the Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation; and the North West University to celebrate the life of a struggle stalwart who was born in Schweizer-Reneke, in the North West in 1945.
