Mahikeng: On behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of the North West, Acting Premier Kenetswe Mosenogi extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of renowned actor Presley Chweneyagae, who has sadly passed away.
Acting Premier Mosenogi maintained Chweneyagae was not just a talented actor; he was a cultural icon whose contributions to the country’s arts and entertainment landscape will be remembered for years to come.
“He was a proud product of the North West Province. He honed his craft at Mmabana Mahikeng, where his passion for dramatic arts flourished. His remarkable performances in acclaimed works such as “Tsotsi”, for which he received an Academy Award, and his unforgettable role in “The River”, showcased his extraordinary talent and dedication to his craft”, Acting Premier Mosenogi said.
“This tragic loss leaves a void in our hearts and in the industry he loved so dearly. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the legacy of creativity and passion he gifted to us all. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time”, Acting Premier Mosenogi added.
The North West Provincial Government will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a dignified send-off for Presley Chweneyagae, honouring his immense contributions to South Africa’s cultural and arts heritage.
