Mahikeng – The delivery of comprehensive public services will on Friday, 31 January 2025 take centre stage in Mamusa Local Municipality which falls under Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality, where government departments, the local and district municipalities as well as state-owned entities, led by Office of the Premier in the North West Province, will be rolling out the provincial government’s Accelerated Service Delivery Programme (ASDP) – Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded.
A multitude of these public services will be rendered in areas including Migdol, Amalia, Glaudina and Ipelegeng in Schweizer-Reneke.
The local municipality which has for some time been plagued by water challenges, will see the provincial leadership, led by Premier Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi, visiting the bulk water augmentation and bulk sewer projects which are currently under construction in Ipelegeng for inspection. The two projects are aimed at bringing the much-needed water supply relief to the community of Schweizer-Reneke.
Driven by its commitment to continue providing decent housing for the poor, the provincial government will as part of this service delivery programme, hand over five recently completed RDP houses to beneficiaries in Glaudina, while 42 title deeds will be presented to qualifying residents in Migdol.
Efforts to create a comfortable and productive teaching and learning environment will also be realised through the handing over of 10 classrooms at Ikgomotseng Primary School, while classrooms furniture in the form of chairs and tables will be handed over at Itshupeng Primary School and chairs at Mampho Secondary School in Ipelegeng, Schweizer-Reneke.
As a build-up to the Friday Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded programme, non-functioning streetlights and high mast lights across the local municipality are being repaired, while identified potholes are being patched and internal roads bladed.
Other services will include distribution of food parcels to identified destitute families, distribution of agricultural support packages and garden tools, inspection of spaza shops, mass registration of indigents and updating of local businesses details on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and online application for IDs and social support services.
The programme which will be led by Premier Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi, joined by Members of the Executive Council, along with the local and district Executive Mayors, seeks to enhance the municipalities’ basic infrastructure, monitor and enforce consumer compliance, and promote the provision of basic services in a coordinated and collaborative manner.
As a constant and critical feature of this service delivery programme, a platform will be created for Premier Mokgosi, MECs and the Executive Mayors to engage with the community on progress registered in implementing various service delivery projects and programmes in their municipality. This community feedback session will be held after the leadership’s visits to various service delivery sites.
