Mahikeng – Premier of the North West, Kagiso Lazarus Mokgosi will tomorrow, Friday, 13 December 2024, lead the symbolic hand over of 85 health vehicles including 36 Ambulances, 39 Planned Patient Transport (PPT) and 10 Forensic Pathology vehicles as part of the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded programme.
Valued at R76 million, these vehicles which are aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services for residents in rural and far-flung areas, will be distributed across the four districts of the province. The Thuntsha Lerole programme will be rolled out in Dinokana village.
During this service delivery oriented programme that will be attended by Members of Executive Council, Executive Mayors and the local Traditional and Khoisan leadership, four (4) RDP houses will be handed over to beneficiaries in Venture, Groot Marico, while a livestock water site and backyard home vegetable garden kits will be handed over to identified beneficiaries in Dinokana.
The provincial government will also donate groceries, toiletries and stationeries to Kgaratlhelo Foundation which deals with families affected by Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) in the Zeerust area.
Some of the public services to be delivered as constant features of the Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded programme include compliance inspection of local tuck-shops and assistance with registration as the deadline for spaza-shops registration is Friday, 13 December, oversight to road construction sites, patching of potholes and blading of identified gravel roads, consumer education, mass registration of indigent, registration for social support services, registration and updating of local businesses details on the Central Supplier Database (CSD), health screening, clearing of illegal dumping sites and provision of agricultural advisory services.
The Accelerated Service Delivery Programme – Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded initiative is designed to promote and fast-track development in local communities by providing essential services, improving infrastructure and addressing critical challenges such as access to clean water, sanitation, road repairs, waste management, and public safety.
This week’s Thuntsha Lerole Reloaded programme will continue in other districts where in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District it will take place in Naledi Local Municipality at Coldridge, while in Bojanala Platinum District Municipality it will be in Madibeng Local Municipality at Bethanie Sports Ground. In Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, the programme will be rolled out at Tswelelang Open Space in Maquassi Local Municipality.
